Solar Ready

One of the signature features of the Breezehouse design is its solar ready ‘butterfly’ roof. The butterfly-roof configuration provides a sloped surface for the solar panels while screening visibility and glare of the panels from neighbors. If you would like to incorporate a photovoltaic system in your Breezehouse design, we will work with you to have a system installed upon delivery.

If you are unable to invest in a photovoltaic system right away, we just made future installation easier! Other renewable energy systems such as geothermal, wind generator or hybrid systems can also be included in your home design. Glazing is based on solar orientation.

Energy Efficiency

The Breezehouse meets the Energy Star® program standards for energy efficient homes and meets the performance standards of the American Lung Association Health House program.

This high performance home is insulated with eco-friendly batt and foam insulation, and all joints are sealed, which makes the home airtight, energy efficient, and less likely to produce mold.

Energy efficient, dual-pane glass windows and doors are placed throughout the home, to maximize cross-ventilation and natural lighting in all major rooms, and minimize the need for artificial lighting and climate control. Clerestory windows and glass doors in the BreezeSpace allow for ample natural lighting and ventilation. The kitchen features windows at counter height to wash the surfaces with light. At the corner of each bedroom are French doors to evoke a feeling of infinite space and allow natural light and air to flow into the space. Each bathroom will have a skylight and window for ample lighting and ventilation.

The Breezehouse also uses water-saving plumbing fixtures, on-demand water heaters, and a mechanical ventilation system that is significantly more efficient than typical forced-air systems, or optional radiant hot water flooring for colder climates.
