Principle 03: Energy Efficiency
Today there is a myriad of green energy options that you can incorporate into a green building; we create homes that generate zero electric bills by employing several innovative technologies in the world of energy efficiency. It's even possible in some of our houses for residents to sell excess power created via the super energy efficient design of their home. Imagine that: you getting paid by the power company!

EcoPrinciple 3: Evergy Efficiency
- Efficient envelope: We use foam insulation, green roofs, and triple-pane/ low-E windows to help our homes trap heat in the cold and cool air when it's hot out.
- Efficient fixtures: We use LED lights in our houses which are huge energy savers.
- Efficient appliances: The appliances we use in our homes all bear the Energy Star certification.
- Efficient heating system: The hi-velocity/mini-duct heating systems we install in our houses not only use less energy but can sometimes even radiate it.
- Efficient cooling system: Features in our houses such as ceiling fans, house fans, and cool roof systems serve as energy efficient means for keeping homes cool in hot weather.
- Energy monitoring system: These monitoring systems can tell residents how much energy their home is producing and how much they're using. The more advanced models can even be used to sell excess energy to the local power company.
- Sun shading: We incorporate elements into our houses that provide sun shading in order to help keep them cool. Low tech sliding wood sunshades, Lutron shades, trellises, and screens all play a role in keeping energy use for cooling down.
- Alternative energy sources: Our houses are designed to rely mostly on alternative energy sources including solar, wind generation, and geo-thermal power.
