Principle 02: Eco Materials
It has been famously observed that we are living in a material world, which makes it essential for us to consider the nature of the material in our green lives. When considering materials for use in our work we focused on finding high quality, eco-friendly elements. It's not just about printing on recycled paper anymore.

EcoPrinciple 2: Eco Materials
- Renewable materials: Bamboo, because it grows so fast and easily, is a wonderful renewable material and one we use for our flooring. We use sustainably harvested materials such as FSC certified wood. Where possible we also use green, living walls.
- Recycled materials: We use countertops made with recycled paper and porcelain. We use tiles made from recycled glass and porcelain. We also use composite decking materials and recycled carpet tiles.
- Reduce waste and use less: Modular technology allows for 50% to 75% less waste during construction.
- Long-lasting and low maintenance: Materials such as weathering steel roofing and cement siding with integrated color never require repainting and are relatively maintenance free. They are strong and reliable materials with long lives.
- Re-use: When possible, we incorporate previously used materials into our houses.
